Aid Appeal

By Conor on January 17 2010, 12:13pm

We are located about sixty-five miles southwest of Port-Au-Prince.  Below you will find the exact coordinates for a field where helicopters have and can land. The field is less than ¼ mile from our hospital. Our hospital has 40 free beds, a fully functioning operating room, as well as a field next door that can serve as a temporary refugee camp for families.

We need the following:

1)      Surgeons (orthopedic especially)

2)      Portable x-ray machine

3)      All Necessary Surgical Supplies

4)      General Essential Medicines

5)      Blood

6)      Diesel Fuel and Gasoline to Run the Generators and Vehicles

7)      Water Filters

We have not seen an influx of patients yet, but we know that there are people from our village in need of surgery. We can serve as a reference center for those who have been hurt as soon as we get the items listed above. Patients may also be helicoptered in and we can deliver them to the hospital in our ambulances.

Thank you and I keep you up to date as to how the situation develops here.

Here are the coordinates for a field right near the St. Boniface hospital where helicopters can land.

You have received a map location.

Connor,

You and your team are amazing.  Ellen helped me find my friend/daughters father (Cam) that is visiting his hometown FdB (Thank you!).  I have been posting the needs of St. Boniface & FdB on mine and many sites this last week.

I understand that FdB is in need of “TOOLS” and “EQUIPMENT” to begin the clean-up and repair of the homes and structures that have been compromised.  People are afraid to sleep in their homes due to the instability and don’t have the means to repair.

Anyone wanting to donate the town of Fond des Blancs they need lots of Tools, Gasoline, Diesel and to fix the town’s major Water Pipe. (Something to cut and repair the pipe)!

Again, thank you for all you do ~ God Bless!

Conor,
We have a 40ft shipping container we will fill with materials over the next 2 weeks..destined for FdB.  Once the container reaches Haiti it’s contents will be delivered by truck. It may take a month or more to get it contents to FdB but we will work as fast as we can.  I will prioritize the medical items you listed above, but can someone else provide us with a list of other useful items? Linens? Shoes? Construction tools or materials? Hand tools for farming?
A 40 ft container has a lot of room.  And if we fill it and need more...we’ll get a second.

Conor,

I know the weeks ahead are going to include desperate times as survivors make their way from Port au Prince.  While we have no helicopters, I believe that the Fenn and Concord community in general will be rallying to support the St Boniface hospital.  I hope the funds we raise can fill those helicopters.

Our thoughts are with you and the people of Haiti.
