Andy Canniff, Nicole Cavino (new volunteer) and I took a walk on a Saturday afternoon to look at the new bridge being built at Perrine. The bridge was started and abandoned a few years ago. With the road work underway, it was decided to finish the bridge with funds from the Food for Work Program and PRODEP.
Perrine is not far from the center of Santon, the village where Lopital St. Boniface is located. This part of the road is flooded frequently because there is a small stream there. After the hurricanes the road was rerouted up to where the unfinished bridge began, at times requiring a 3-point turn. The bridge will make a huge improvement to the road and help us maintain access after bad weather.
I couldn't get a photo to upload right now, so to see some pictures please go to http://picasaweb.google.com/ElleninHaiti/NewBridgeRoadProject#

I am 45 year old and I am originally from Haiti. Born in Port-au_Prince and raised in a small country side next to Fond-des -Blancs named Fond-des-Negres. My guess is you have heard of it. For years I have been having this urge to return to my native country, I feel the need to give back to a country that has given me so much for so little. My passion is to nurse and to teach. I am a License nurse, currently working at Daughters of Israel, I also work as a substitute teacher at West Orange High School. Please let me know if there is a possibility that I could serve in this hospital,
