As part of the international relief effort for the food crisis in Haiti, staple foods such as rice, beans, and oil are being distributed. There have been barriers to getting the food from the ports to the countryside but there appears to be some headway being made.
Today, there was a delivery of food from Catholic Relief Services, which is acting in partnership with USAID. The school feeding programs which are in place during the year have been extended for the summer to provide those children with the food they need while on summer vacation. The children showed up in uniform at the parish hall in Sainton along with their families, to pick up their rations.
