In Thanksgiving

By Ellen on November 30 2008, 9:01am

We celebrated Thanksgiving a couple of days late.  It's not a holiday here in Haiti, and Thursday was business as usual.  We had a full house of visitors in the residence and programs were in full swing.  When everything quieted down on Saturday, we had our belated Thanksgiving.

Sarah Hackett brought a turkey in her suitcase earlier in the week, along with homemade cranberry sauce.  It smelled wonderful cooking in the oven!  We had all the trimmings too. We toasted each other with a good white wine, and spent the afternoon eating and talking.  Our small party consisted of Dr. Cadet, Sr. Ellen, Sarah, and Ellen.

Even in the midst of the poverty and suffering we see every day, there is much to be thankful for.  We are thankful for God's provison for our work here in Haiti and for the generosity of our donors, without whom the work would not be possible.  Thank you for all that you do for us!
