Many of our visitors to Fond des Blancs have had the pleasure of tasting and buying the honey produced by our local beekeeping cooperative, KAF. The cooperative has had some struggles with production in the past when hives were damaged by parasites. After recovering from that, more than half the hives were damaged by the hurricanes in 2008.
Andalucia por Un Mundo Nuevo ONGD is sponsoring a few local projects, and today arrived to meet with us and to give KAF some financial support. The money received will be used to purchase much needed supplies. The cooperative will be searching for new venues to sell the honey as it's two most successful locations were destroyed in the earthquake. The committee members are excited to resume the enterprise "an fos", or in force.

As I’m looking at this website, I am enjoying a cup of tea with honey I brought home from FDB last weekend. Makes a great little gift to bring back for friends and supports the local beekeepers. Had a great experience working at the hospital and miss the patients. Kudos to SBHF and everyone involved!
