Late morning, the day after.

By Linda on January 13 2010, 11:53am

Staff stayed outside last night.  Patients huddled in the courtyard together weathering the aftershocks.  A beautiful baby was born- she is being called the "earthquake baby in creole" and her name is Alexandria.   Conor is waiting to hear from Villa - Miliane is checking on the devastaion up there - reports are that building is in two but we want to see for ourselves.  Xavier house boys are roaming aroundPAP with no where to go.  They all got our safely before the building collapsed.  Reports on Norwich house last night said it fell down and two americans trapped.  We are waiting to hear more on this - conflicting reports.  No one can get in touch with Hospice St. Joseph.

I am doing okay.  Got 3 hours sleep in 24 hours!  My group is getting prepared to help clean up in the hospital here - lots of stuff fell off the shelves. Most staff are milling about kind of unresponsive but functioing as robots to just keep going.  It is very strange.  I will try to send pictures from my camera later.  Still experiencing aftershocks even now.  Ground feels like it is trembling and makes your legs feel like they are weak.  Haven't run outside yet today...but still along ways to go.  Last night was very scary for me personally.  News trickling in.  Food delivery from truck that came last night will help (What luck!), Funds dwindling while we mobilize with provisions in anticipation of shortages of food and gas.
