Right before the earthquake, St. Boniface Haiti Foundation had a huge backlog of donated goods for our hospital and was exploring options to have them shipped to Haiti. Most were boxed and ready to go. When the earthquake destroyed the docks on January 12th, we were literally left high and dry. That is when we were contacted by The Gethsemane Scholarship Institute of Fond Des Blancs, Haiti. Their fundraising arm is in Rockville, Maryland. For 20 years they have been operating a K through 7 school in Fond des Bancs for 200 students and are in the process of building a new school.
They have a 40 foot container at Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church in Rockville, MD, which they are filling with items for earthquake relief. Chuck Woolery, on their Executive Board, called our office to offer us space on the container at no charge to us. It was a gift right from heaven. We shipped everything down by truck and Chuck's organization will deliver the goods to Fond des Blancs for us. Thank you, Chuck, and the Gethsemane Scholarship Fund! We hope this is the beginning of a great partnership for the poor.

For the record, it is not the same Chuck Woolery you might be thinking about. Nonetheless, thanks Chuck.
