Notes of interest

Dr. Cadet has taken a job with CRS helping to organize hospitals in PAP to accept quake victims needing care and to redistribute those who have had surgery to reduce overcrowding at any one facility.  He will eventually be working with SBHF hospital in that capacity as we accept more patients from the city.

There's a lot of waiting going on. We are still waiting for patient transfers from the city; They took the malnourished children we were expecting last night to a facility closer to PaP. We have a few patients from PaP who find their way by their own means and probably have family in the region.  We are waiting for survey results from the community regarding numbers of displaced persons and their needs.

Ellen Boldon, our nutritionist, is planning some rapid nutrition assessments to do in the region of Fond des Blancs to determine the prevalence of malnutrition.  She will also be compiling another price comparison today after the cook, Solange, returns from the market.

Other than that, they are trying to continue with everything as normal as possible.  Everyone at the hospital seems to have moved back inside though many in the community continue to sleep outdoors in fear of more aftershocks.
