Youth Camp

By Ellen on October 03 2008, 12:04pm

The summer months in Fond des Blancs offer a chance to provide activity, encouragement and education to young people while they are on school break.  Oftentimes there's very little for them to do.

In August we held a five-day youth camp for over 60 youth between the ages of 16 and 21.  Young men and women who are memberws of various youth groups in the area participated.  They gathered at Ecole Francois Xavier, where they slept, ate and played.  During the day different sessions were held for them on various topics such as self-esteem and respect, civic duty, manners and ettiquette, and the role young men and women can play in Haitian society.  These young people may be local or national leaders some day.

The morning was started with physicYouth Camp Musical activityYouth Camp Football.  One morning saw the boys against the girls in a competitive football (soccer) match.  There was time for music and drama, and the week ended with a camp fire.

This summer camp was the first held here and was a great success.  St. Boniface is hoping to make it an annual event.

Dear Ellen, I see you as an asset for this community, they needs people like you,who have vision, the ability to think for a better world ,to innovate including the entire Saint Boniface Association. May the spirit of the Lord Keeps us under its wings, for the duty we are called for :the unexplicable, the non sense, the sacrifice we endure that have no reward ;only heaven knows .Tank you all and thank you again…
