The road has become a raging river.

A general emergency is in effect at our hospital in Haiti in response to the devastating hurricanes that have hit Haiti with full force over the past several weeks. First Tropical Storm Faye, then Hurricanes Gustav, Hanna, and Ike released the full force of their rage over poor, defenseless Haiti. Torrential rains and high winds caused unprecedented flooding, destruction of houses, and complete washout of agricultural food production. Roads in and out of Fond des Blancs have been impassible for over 2 weeks, which means no trucks have been able to bring in food to be sold at the open market. We have appealed to the large AID organizations for help, but the scope of the disasters have slowed response. We are just now beginning to receive assistance for road repairs, emergency food rations, potable water, and emergency shelter assistance. Even our hospital is without fuel for our generator.
Ours is a relatively small organization without the resources for a large-scale emergency response. We are doing our best to feed the hungry, repair roads through our Food for Work Program, and provide assistance to those most in need. We urgently need you to make an emergency donation NOW to help us continue our efforts.
