The St. Boniface Haiti Foundation believes that education is important for all. We offer literacy classes in several locations in the Fond des Blancs area. We have beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes. Students walk up to two hours each way to attend classes. They receive instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics.  Students range in age from 15 to 50 and never had the opportunity to attend school when they were young. It is a very special day for all of them when they are able to write their names for the first time!

These students are able to look for jobs once they can read and write. Some use their newly acquired mathematical skills to help them start micro-businesses. The pride and sense of accomplishment that the students receive through their hard work is life changing. Having these successful role-models gives the younger children hope for a better future.
