In Fond des Blancs, less than 50 percent of the children are able to attend school because their parents cannot afford to send them or because there are no schools in the area. We currently have over 700 children in primary schools on scholarships throughout the area. These children receive tuition, uniforms, books, and supplies. Most importantly, they receive a hot meal every day at school which, for many, is their only meal of the day. Students must receive passing grades to remain in the scholarship program.  

To improve the quality of education we provided teacher training to over 100 teachers this summer. The training provided teachers with the skills necessary to create a better learning environment for the students. Teachers chosen to participate in the training went back to their schools to share what they learned.  To read more about our Inaugural Teacher Training click here.
