Water and Sanitation

Lack of clean water and proper sanitation facilities is a huge problem in Haiti. People walk long distances everyday to carry heavy containers of water for the family to use. Water is often contaminated causing many illnesses, especially among children, many of whom die young.

Only 56% of Haitian households have access to safe drinking water and a mere 14% of rural Haitian households have sanitation facilities. In the St. Boniface Haiti Foundation’s catchment area, poverty forces residents to put their resources into survival. They cannot afford to make improvements in this important area. Intervention and improvements in access to clean water and sanitation is critical to limiting the spread of infectious disease that will continue to plague communities that rely on St. Boniface for aid.

The St. Boniface Haiti Foundation works with private donors and partners such as Food for the Poor, Water for Life, and the local community to identify and address potable water and sanitation issues and needs in the region. We have installed deep water wells and pumps to provide countless people with sate drinking water, as well as toilets and bathing areas in areas that would otherwise be without this vital infrastructure.

Please help us provide clean water and sanitation to the people of Haiti. Only $2,500 will build a well to give hundreds of people access to clean water.
