Esther Destil has worked full-time as a nurse in our hospitaal for many years.  Her knowledge and competence did not go unnoticed.  Dr. Cadet, our Directeur General, singled her out to go to school in Port-au-Prince to prepare her to head our Public Health Initiative in Fond des Blancs.  It took 2 years to completer her specialized nursing program.  Her tuition and expenses were paid for as the first recippient of the Barbara Stomberg Nursing Scholarship.  Esther did very well in school.  Her practicum in January was spent making a diagnostic evaluation of the sanitation for all 11 sections of the city of Jacmel.  

She returns to Fond des Blancs in March to coordinate the efforts of our hospital for community outreach and health education.  Education is critical to health maintenance and disease prevention, especially in third world countries.  Esther will give back to the community in countless ways in the coming years.  She is very grateful to her benefactor for the opportunity to get this advanced education.  We are very blessed to have her back in this new role.
