Makeshift house for the poor

Housing & Community Development

SBHF partners with Food for the Poor to improve housing and livelihoods for some of Fond-des-Blancs' most vulnerable families. To date, FFP has built 50 houses, and is currently working on an additional 50. Families who benefit from this program are all single female headed households, persons with disabilities, or living with HIV.

SBHF's role is to provide hygiene and sanitation training for the recipient families, to further improve their health and well being by training them on proper storage of water, cleanliness of water containers, hand-washing, proper cooking methods and proper disposal of waste. Each is also eligible to benefit from chicken rearing and goat interbreeding activities, which are also supported by FFP, and help provide income and food for the families.
