Hurricane Matthew Preparations

Hurricane Matthew is heading directly for southern Haiti. We’re expecting tonight and tomorrow (October 3-4) will see significant, and potentially catastrophic, damage in the area around SBH.

Our team in Haiti has been preparing for this event since last week. Drainage ditches have been dug, windows boarded up, and patients and staff moved into the most hurricane-safe buildings we have. That includes moving our Spinal Cord Injury patients into the new Surgical Center, which is proving invaluable even before the first surgery is done.

See below for some photos from the past couple of days of our team’s heroic, round-the-clock preparations.
