Jan. 12 Marks Three-Year Anniversary of Earthquake

This year marks the third anniversary of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that devastated Haiti, leaving more than 220,000 dead and thousands displaced. As we look back on our progress, we remember with thankfulness our donors and support network who continue to allow us to grow and help the Haitian people.

We believe very strongly that success in Haiti—improving the quality of life for millions and empowering the country and its people to enact sustainable solutions to end suffering – is about commitment to and partnership with the Haitian people. As a foundation, we are committed to helping those in need when no one else can, and our emphasis on sustainability enables us to work side-by-side with the people of Haiti to alleviate poverty and suffering through health care, education and community development initiatives. We are one of the most significant organizations working in Haiti, and we have no intention of leaving. We have seen real change.

There is no quick and easy fix in Haiti, but the path to success lies with the individual communities that make up the larger whole. As we remember Jan. 12, 2010, we thank you for doing your part to strengthen, support and enrich the Fond des Blancs community.
