Women's Health Campaign Sees Success

The community health and gynecology departments of SBH recently organized a campaign with the support of the Haitian Society of Oncology. Using community radio, community health volunteers and visits to the hospital to spread the word, the staff raised awareness of the importance of screening for cervical cancer. Over the course of four days, the hospital saw a total of 435 women for this initiative alone.

“The enthusiasm of women to get tested clearly shows the need to have a screening program structure,” said Dr. Miliane Clermont, Deputy Director of SBH. Doctors and directors of the hospital are currently identifying ways in which to better raise awareness of women’s issues.
